LAURINBURG, N.C. – The Greensboro College women's lacrosse team topped the Knights of St Andrews in their final non-conference game of the season Thursday, 19-9.
The Knights tallied the game's first goal in the fourth minute before
Kara Whitson and
Peyton Joyce found the back to the net to give Greensboro a 2-1 lead
St. Andrews then regained the lead at 3-2 before
Natalie Ritchey struck for her first goal of the evening, tying the game for a second third time.
Following Ritchey's goal, the Knights quickly regained a one-goal lead, but Greensboro tallied the next five goals to take an 8-4 lead.
Madison Blashaw accounted for two of the goals, while Joyce and Ritchey had one goal.
With the Pride holding on to the four-goal lead, St. Andrews scored the final three goals in the half to pull within 8-7 at halftime.
The second half was all Greensboro as the Pride outscored the Knights 11-2 to secure the 10-goal victory. Whitson accounted for four goals, while Ritchey, Joyce,
Laine Walston and Blashaw combined for seven goals.
"Good win today," Head Coach
Jena Miller said. "We started out flat but we came out strong in the second half and finished the way we should have.
"We are ready for Saturday's game."
