LaGRANGE, Ga. – The Greensboro College women's lacrosse team fell in the USA South Athletic Conference semi-finals to Meredith College Friday, 19-5.
The Pride started on the back foot as the Angels of Meredith College scored the first three goals of the game.
Peyton Joyce got the Pride on the board when she scored a solo goal with 25:03 remaining in the first half.
Meredith would go on to score nine goals unanswered, until
Mackenzie Flemmons would score a man-up goal on an assist from
Devan Macheras.
Meredith would go into halftime with a 14-2 lead over the Pride.
Two more Angel goals would increase their lead, until the Pride would score back-to-back goals from Joyce and
Laine Walston. Flemmons would assist Joyce's goal, while
Natalie Ritchey was credited with the assist for Walston's goal.
Meredith would score three more goals before Macheras would score the final goal of the contest.
Peyton Joyce led the Pride with three shots, while
Devan Macheras and Stephanie Carr led the team with three ground balls each.
Kianna Anderson was credited with the loss, but came up with a career-high fifteen saves.
"We fought hard this season, today was just not our day." said Head Coach
Christie Hebert. "Thank you to our amazing seniors who were apart of the Pride. They will truly be missed."
