Women's Lacrosse Drops Season Opener to Piedmont

GREENSBORO, NC – The Greensboro College women's lacrosse team (0-1, 0-1 USAS)got their 2015 campaign underway on Thursday afternoon. The Pride struggled out of the game and couldn't not rebound against the Lions of Piedmont College (5-0, 1-0 USAS) falling by a 9-2 score.

The Lions scored the game's first four goals of the game to take a 4-0 lead into the break.

Coming out of the intermission period, Piedmont extended their margin to 5-0 before Greensboro was able to find the back of the net.

With 26:36 left to play in the contest, Natalie Ritchey took a feed from Kirstin Norris to bring Greensboro back within four goals at 5-1. Just five minutes later Ritchey earned an assist on a goal by Nadya Feduen to cut the deficit to three goals at 5-2.

However, the Loins were able to strike four more times to come away with the 9-2 victory.

Greensboro College was credited with nine shots on the day. Norris led the way with four shots while Ashlynn Parks and Ritchey recorded two each.

Kaleigh Hemstock (0-1) took the loss in the net for the Pride despite making eleven saves.

The women's lacrosse team will return to Pride field next Thursday afternoon when they welcome Wilmington (OH) to town. The first draw is set for 3:00 PM.
