Softball Team Swept by Salem

The Greensboro College softball team dropped both games against Salem College on Wednesday, March 25th. The Pride lost the first game, 2-1, then lost the second game, 9-8.

First Game

Greensboro took an early lead in the top of the first when Kali Puckett led off the inning. She advanced to second on an error by the pitcher as Alexis Hall reached first base. Madison Crisco singled to center field advancing Puckett to third who came around to score on an error by the center fielder.

Shelby Drummonds took the loss for The Pride giving up two runs in four innings.

Second Game

Salem opened the scoring in the first inning but Greensboro answered in the second as they scored two on an error by the second baseman. The error brought in Nicholson and Ashley Miller.

In the third, The Pride pushed four more runs across the plate off four RBI singles. Crisco singled starting the rally, Sarah Connolly singled to advance Crisco to second. Nicholson drove in Crisco with a single and advances Connolly to third. Brittany Rush followed that up with a single driving in Connolly advancing Nicholson to third. Drummonds kept the rally going driving in Nicholson, making the score five to one. Hall kept the inning alive with a single driving in Rush.

In the fifth, Hall singled and came around to score on a single by Crisco giving them a one run lead.  In the sixth trailing by one run, Hayley Rumley drove Drummonds in with a two out double tying the game at eight.  Salem scored in the seven to win, 9-8.

Dawn Harris took the loss, as she came in relief and worked two and a third innings giving up the one run in the seventh.

The Pride travel to play a doubleheader against Huntingdon on Saturday, March 28th. The games will be played at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
