The Pride volleyball team opened the 2012 season on Saturday with identical 3-1 victories over Holllins and Roanoke at the Averett University Cougar Classic.
Greensboro jumped out to a first set lead with a 26-24 win against Hollins in the first match. Hollins reversed the score in set two to even the match at 1-1. The Pride dominated the third set 25-15 and closed the match out in the fourth with a 27-25 win.
In match two against Roanoke, Greensboro took a 1-0 lead with a 25-18 win. Roanoke rallied to even the match score with a 25-12 win in set two before The Pride finished it out with victories of 25-23 and 25-16.
The Pride will look to stay perfect on Sunday with two more matches. Greensboro will face Emory & Henry at 10 a.m. followed by the final match of the tournament against Methodist at 2 p.m. Live stats will be available for the match against Emory & Henry. Boxscores for the remainder of this weekend's matches will not be available until Sunday night or Monday morning.
