In a rematch from earlier this season, the Greensboro College volleyball team lost to cross-town rival Guilford on Tuesday, 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-16). The two teams also met on September 9 at the Greensboro College Invitational, with the Quakers holding on for a five set win.
Guilford led wire-to-wire in each of the first two sets, building early leads while jumping out to a 2-0 advantage. The Pride started to build some momentum towards the end of the second set, rallying from as many as eight down to pull within 21-18.
Despite coming up short in the second, Greensboro grabbed its first lead in the third set. The Pride led 6-5 before the Quakers ran off four straight points to go back on top, 9-6. Guilford would widen the margin down the stretch, holding on for a 25-16 clincher.
Danielle Simpson (pictured) was the only player on both teams in double figures in kills with ten total. She doubled up as well, adding ten digs for the night. Dana Sandknop was her usual steady self at the setter position, dishing out 21 assists.
The loss drops The Pride to 7-14 on the season. Greensboro will now travel across country for a four match weekend slate at LaVerne, CA on Friday and Saturday.
