The Series: Guilford leads 8-7.

Last Season's Meeting: Greensboro kicked-off the 2011 season with a 27-7 setback to cross-town rival Guilford.  The Pride hung tough through the first quarter, turning back a couple of Guilford scoring threats to keep the score knotted at 0-0.  The Quakers broke the ice at the 7:20 mark in the second quarter with a two-yard touchdown run by Josh Williams to grab a 7-0 lead.  Guilford would go into the break with a 14-0 lead and would push the advantage to 27-0 with one touchdown in the third and fourth quarters.  Greensboro put the first points of the season on the board with 1:08 remaining when Kwame Petty broke loose for a 32-yard touchdown scamper.  

Game Notes: The Pride will enter the season with a first year head coach (Bill Young - 13th year on staff), defensive coordinator (Matt Runyans - 7th season on staff) and offensive coordinator (Kevin Wallace - 2nd year on staff)...Two-time USA South All-Conference honoree and 2009 Rookie of the Year, Antwan Thorpe, returns to bolster the wide receiver unit after spending the 2011 season at Catawba...Greensboro broke 16 school records in 2011...The Pride return their top passer (Ryan Throndset), rusher (Warren Scott) and receiver (Dexter Russell Jr.) from 2011...Greensboro also welcomes back four USA South All-Conference selections from 2011...Guilford will enter the season with a new face at the quarterback position...The Quakers bring back their top two tacklers in the secondary (Hunter English) and linebacking (Robert Smith) units...The last time these two teams met at Guilford, The Pride came away victorious by a final count of 17-15 in 2010...
